Bangkok = LOVE

November 26th, 2009

*a super backdate post - this trip was in October*

The title of this post says it all. Let’s just say it was indeed a shopping trip for all of us but I am NOT the shopping champion during the entire trip. :D

Did we shop till we drop? Well, literally we did. This is our daily scenario for all 4 days: We’ll look super fresh & energetic in the morning & by the end of the day, we’ll all look super dreadful - messy hair & tired face, with an armful of shopping bags. :P

Chatuchak Market , Siam Square and Platinum Mall are major, major loves! 3 days are definitely not even enough to cover everything. Chatuchak Weekend Market is so huge you can even get lost there & Platinum Mall boasts 6 floors full of clothes, shoes and accessories that we couldn’t even finish within a day.

I’ll let the pictures do all the talking….. :)

Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport…all looking very excited.

The hostel we stayed at which only costs us RM150 for a total of 3 nights, super cheap!

We love this place - so ZEN-like with the wooden interiors.

Posing at the train station

One day, we were all craving for McD and in particular the Pork Burger which we know we can get in Bangkok. So off we went searching for McD in town. We all got so excited when we saw McD and the famous-and-almost-extinct Mr. Cheeseburger himself! So of course we had to take a picture with him, TA-DA!!!

We visited Siam Square on Day 1 but didn’t really bought alot from there. Perhaps we were all saving for Platinum & Chathuchak (and we were so right). :D

This is us chilling out at Mango Tango, a cafe at Siam Sqaure to quench our thirst & cool ourselves from the heat.

This is the famed Platinum Mall…6 floors of shopping heaven! :D

Elaine & I with our shopping loot from Platinum…(but she hid one BIG bag behind of her)

And if you think we only went shopping, you’re wrong. We did visit two touristy places: The Grand Palace & Wat Pho. The architecture of both places are really amazing!

The amazing Sleeping Buddha @ Wat Pho

This is us back to LCCT with all our bags…amazing ya? LOL

So was it fun? Yes, it was especially since I haven’t been on an overseas trip with friends for the longest time! I will definitely go back again…. :)

Have a good long weekend everyone!

Birthday Dinner Part 1

November 20th, 2009

*yet another backdated post* =.=

I have officially turned a quater-of-a-century-old….*sigh* Feeling so old now, my gosh! Anyways, thank you to everyone who wished me either on Facebook/SMS/face-to-face - I appreciate ‘em very much. :)

Now, back to my post. My lovely colleagues (Joanne & Nell) were really sweet to treat me to dinner in conjunction with my birthday earlier this month. Joanne brought us to an Italian-American restaurant at Bugis Junction called Lenas (brought to you by Ministry of Food = MOF) and they were having a 1-for-1 promo for pizzas and pastas at that time.

Their menu was just so tempting that we felt like ordering every single item on it, haha! This is me cam-whoring with the menu. :P

We ordered an appetizer, a pasta each, and a pizza to share - sounds like a lot of food ya? Wanna know if we managed to finish everything? Read on….

The appetizer - fried mushrooms (I think)

Nell & Joanne’s seafood marinara pasta

Italian Sausage Pizza

Me & my baked pasta & the pizza

My, the food was really, really good - we like! And we were so stuffed by the time we finished our own pasta…we couldn’t finish the pizza & I had to bring the leftovers home which my lunch the next day. :P

A surprise was in store for me that day & I didn’t know about it until the waiter/waitress brought out a birthday cake with a candle & started singing the Birthday song to me! I was indeed surprised (and a lil’ embarassed) but VERY happy too!

Me & the chocolate cake….yummy!

With Nell & Joanne - Thank you so much gurls, I really appreciate it! :)

The chocolate cake was soooo good too! A huge thank you to the staff at Lenas for the sweet arrangement….I am indeed touched. By the time each of us had the cake, we were way too full for anymore desserts & I had to bring back 1/2 of the cake home. It took me a week to finish the rest by myself…I suddenly feel like a glutton, argh!?!

And here is me with Jojo’s pressie - a brand new Maybelline eye shadow, just what I needed. Thank you Jojo! *hugzzz*

Chic POP Street Market @ Zouk

October 23rd, 2009

*backdated post*

3 October 2009

I’ve been so looking forward to this street market/bazaar since forever. I first got the news from the lovely Naomi of Tea & Sympathy and then more details from TIC. Right after that, October 3rd has been marked on my calendar and it’s an event that I must attend. Did I mention it was held at Zouk? :P It wouldn’t be the same without having my ‘zhi mui’ ,Angie, with me and it was our first time attending a bazaar *shy*. But I’m so glad I went coz I finally got to meet Jezmine of Old Blossom Box. I’ve been her frequent customer and she brings in fantastic goodies each week. ;)

Us with the super nice Jezmine =)

I also snagged more items from Naomi at the bazaar. I heart her creations - T&S The Label - so, so much! Here’s some of the items I got from her:

Sharp Shoulder Blazer

Purple Work Shirt with pleated collar

Scallop & Swallow Dress

*all pictures are credited to Naomi of T&S

Even the stuffs she brings back from BKK are amazing but I’m always late to grab them coz I’m not based in KL, damn! Unfortunately, I do not have a picture with Naomi at Chic POP but there will be in my upcoming post.

The bazaar featured some online blogshops, boutiques and designers from around the region - so imagine the bunch of goodies available, wheee!!!

Here are some random pictures taken at Chic POP…

Apparently, there’ll be another Chic POP next month - I can’t wait! :D Till then, have a great weekend everyone! Next up, a post on my BKK trip…. :)))

Back from my much awaited break

October 22nd, 2009

Hello peeps!

I’m back!!! I know I’ve been on a hiatus for quite a long time but here are the few reasons:

1) My blog was down
2) I’ve been busy with a major project & it’s finally over! :D
3) I just came back from a much awaited holiday~ :D

Hopefully they’re acceptable. :P Just some teeny weeny updates from my side since I was away from blogging for sooo loonnggg……

1. I was working on a photography competition in collaboration with the Singapore Sun Festival 2009 since early this year and so many problems cropped up during the whole process (and towards the end). As always, things will go wrong somehow. *sigh* Don’t really wanna go into the details of what went wrong but even though the whole thing is stressing me out, I must say it was one hell of an experience for me & I’m still proud of the final outcome - which came down to the exhibition at Kinokuniya @ Takashimaya & the award ceremony at the same venue as well. It’s finally over & done with….and will be busy with other stuff at work.

2. So….since I just finished that major project of mine, I of course had to reward myself with a holiday! Sometime back in July, I was really itching to go to Bangkok. I had to convince several girlfriends to go coz it was the peak of H1N1 back then. Besides that, AirAsia was having a fantastic promotion and I just couldn’t resist. Thank goodness we managed to get it together, book our flight tickets/accomodation & off we went to Bangkok on 15th October~weeeee!!! :) Now that I’m back to work,my mind & soul is still there because we had so much fun especially shopping, LOL. I would definitely want to go back there again. Stay tuned for my trip report then.

I also have some backdated posts coming up; starting off with Chic POP Street Market @ Zouk KL…

Mussel Madness

September 6th, 2009

August 31st 2009

To celebrate the two August babies birthday, I suggested dinner at Brussel Sprouts @ Robertson Quay. I discovered this restaurant via the STB website and have been wanting to try it out since forever! So finally the right occasion came for us to visit the restaurant.

Sin Dee & myself arrived at the venue pretty early but reservation was made for 6.30pm. We both decided to order our food & drinks first while waiting for Elaine. They were having a promo for their mussels, aptly named Mussel Madness, where 2 main size pots of mussels for $50. Hence, we ordered that and it comes with free flow of fries, yum!

The yummy mussels:

MARINIERE: Mussels with white wine, cream, butter, celery, onion, parsley

PROVENCALE: Mussels gratinated with herb de province, garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, red capsicum, rosemary, tomato

Elaine finally came a while after the food was served or else both Sin Dee & I could have gobbled down everything, LOL. Out of the two flavours, all of us agreed that the mariniere tasted better than the provencale. :P But it was still alright, just that it tasted ‘very tomato-ish’. The fries were pretty good though - its thick and hot, freshly out of the fryer. We like! =)

We ordered a lil’ ’small eat’ dish to share after that even though we were quite full.

Mushrooms on toast

This restaurant is located at Robertson Quay and it has a nice view of the S’pore river so we decided to take some photos.

The birthday gurls with their cakes! =D

Us camwhoring at the riverside….

Some nice shots from Robertson Walk

Hope you gurls enjoyed yourselves & Happy Belated Birthday dearies!

GAGA-fied!

September 6th, 2009

*Yet another backdated post

August 12th 2009

Only one word to describe Lady Gaga’s concert : AWESOME!!! And I’ll let the photos do most of the talking….

On 12th August @ Fort Canning Park, the temperature was soaring, emotions were high, atmosphere was electrifying….but despite waiting for an hour plus, the crowd just went ‘wild’ the moment she appeared on stage.

She sang her most of her hit songs from ‘The Fame’; from ‘Paparazzi’ to ‘Poker Face’. The last stage outfit was probably one of the most memorable, where she was dressed in her signature Bubble outfit looking nude-like. This was the moment she played the piano for a slow version of Poker Face before launching into the fast-paced version.

That marks the last performance for the night despite the crowd cheering for an ‘Encore’. She must be really, really eager to have chilli crab, LOL. XD

Double ‘T’ on a whirldwind trip

September 6th, 2009

*Super Backdated Post*

August 8th 2009

The long National Day weekend was a blast as I managed to spend some quality time with my zhi mui & bf. I went back home on Friday night & took an early morning bus to KL on Saturday. Met up with my zhi mui, Angie, who came to pick me up from the bus station & off we went to Bangsar for breakfast.

We went to this famous mamak place at Jalan Telawi (can’t remember the name, sorry!) & had roti canai. Gosh, how I miss good ol’ mamak food….yum! Right after that, it was straight to boutique shopping at the very same area. Few nights before the trip, I actually dreamt about this particular boutique, as if it was calling me to visit the store. Weird huh? An obsession? Maybe.

The first stop was Tea & Sympathy - officially my favourite boutique in Bangsar =D. It wasn’t open yet when we got there at 11plus so we stopped by Cats Whiskers first which just downstairs. Nothing caught our eye (which is a good thing!). Then what else can we do but to camwhore with the cute wall paintings… :P

We sorta waited for a few mins & up came Naomi, the store owner of T&S. Both of us were her first customer for the day, hehe. Damn kiasu la, but you need to be quick to grab the nice stuffs from this place, no joke.

I was the ‘champion’ again this time. Bought a total of 4 items from ‘the Label’ - a working shirt, 1 pink floral skirt, 1 maroon puffy skirt & 1 Agent Orange dress (super cute, check out the pic below!) Angie just got a pink checkered peplum skirt…. makes me feel so guilty but what the heck, its T&S!

My ‘Agent Orange’ dress from T&S (which costs quite abit)

I super duper love the colours of the dress….so schweet =D

We dropped by a couple more boutiques before heading to Midvalley where I was to meet dear for lunch. And ever since Elaine told me about the sales at Topshop KL, I just couldn’t get it out of my head & sure enough, the first store we both went to was Topshop. Gosh, they have so much more stuff here compared to SG & most of them still have decent sizes (as in UK6 & 8)! And most of them were on 30% or 50% off. We almost went bonkers coz we picked out quite a few stuff to try but luckily only ended up buying a few.

Then it was off for late lunch at one of my fave ‘makan’ places, Delicious, yum! I had duck confit spaghetti, ‘zhi mui’ had caesar salad whereas dear had quiche lorraine.

Some camwhoring in the restaurant….

Presenting to you two of my fave shots….

Me & dear

Me & Angie with our Delicious food

Gosh, I had so much fun & I miss such girly outings with the ‘zhi mui’. It brings back so much memories from Perth, don’t you think? Once again, thank you so much to Angie for accompanying me even though the trip was so super short! Can’t thank you enough gurl….do come to SG when you get the chance alrite? *huggzzz*

Going Gaga Tonight!

August 11th, 2009

An event that is not to be missed!

Lady Gaga ‘Live’ in Singapore

Woo-hoo! The concert is tonight, finally! Been waiting pratically forever for this event and I even managed to grab hold of the early bird ticket priced at $75. I’ll blog about it soon alrite? ;)

Weekend gone too soon…

August 5th, 2009

Just a short post….

Why are weekends always gone too soon? And the days felt much shorter compared to weekdays. Anyways, dear came to visit for the weekend and as usual, I’m very happy to see him. =) Didn’t really do much except we out for lunch and to the mall as I needed to stock up on some toiletries.

We went to one of my fave cafe for lunch, Eastern Creative Recipe….

Our food….yum yum :P

Us posing with our food

The bf’s going back to the UK soon …. T_T and won’t be back till next year CNY….*sobz* T_T Wonder how I’m going to survive…but I know I will, coz I just have to. *sigh*

Outfit of the day:

Floral Dress: Imported, from Rose Cottage online boutique
Pink Cardigan: Hong Kong
Bangles: Gold bangle from H&M, Hong Kong
Silver bangle from Miss Selfridge

I love the floral dress I’m wearing….a highly sought after design by floral lovers, hehe. Am happy I managed to finally grab hold of it.

I’m looking forward to the long weekend, yippee! Will be going down to KL for a one-day trip and meeting zhi mui for breakfast & shopping. =) And of course, not forgetting my bf.
