fELbYrNe.com http://www.felbyrne.com fELbYrNe's Blog Fri, 19 Mar 2010 07:48:51 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.5.1 en Happy Tiger Year! http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=598 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=598#comments Mon, 15 Mar 2010 07:45:51 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=598 *Super backdated post*

Ooops, yet another super duper late post especially since CNY is over, like, a month ago? *shy* Nevertheless, I still want to blog about my week-long CNY break coz I got to spend time with family, friends & of course my bf, hehe. :))) I’ll just post up the pictures with minimal words ok? I guess they’re pretty self-explanatory.

What’s Chinese New Year without visiting & collecting ang pows right? :P It’s always a great time to catch up with my high school friends over what-nots & just cam-whoring for the entire day.

My visit to KL - tea & shopping with Angie & my bf…. :D

Yummylicious oreo cheesecake @ Marmalade Cafe - sinful but delicious, mmm…. :D

Zhi Muis forever! <3

We went to visit Kakak Naomi at her shop too….and I was so lucky that Chloe was there at that time! Isn’t she adorable? <3

I went to Jezmine’s shop in Shah Alam - FINALLY!!! I’ve been an ardent fan of hers ever since I stumbled upon Old Blossom Box. Her goodies are so cute - very irresistable indeed! The shop lagi cute - very pink, girlish & I can’t get enough of her scallop tables & counter tops!

Last but not least, my bf & I went to watch ‘Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief’ at Pyramid a day before I went back home. We ended our date with a nice (but super pricey) dinner at Ole Ole Bali. I’ve been wanting to go there for sooo looonnnggg. They have yummy food & nice ambience…. perfect combo. :D

SC & Fel…. <3

Balinese food - thumbs up! :)

Live Like We’re Dying…. http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=589 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=589#comments Mon, 08 Mar 2010 03:29:56 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=589 Super Backdated Post: 10th February 2010

LOL, if you have no idea why this post is titled as above, then you are obviously not a Kris Allen fan. :P I’ve been a fan of Kris Allen the moment I saw him performing ‘Man In The Mirror’ during the Top 24 round from last season’s American Idol. And from that day on, I kept watching AI every single week just to watch Kris’ performance until the day of the finale. I was so worried that he will lose out to Adam but imagine my sheer joy when it was announced he was the winner of AI Season 8! So naturally, I would definitely catch him live in concert if he were to tour Asia.

I remember being in the car one fine Saturday back in my hometown & I was listening to Hitz.FM. I heard something like ,”Kris Allen live in KL……” Bam! The moment I got home, I went to Google for more details and to see if he will stop by Singapore. Boy, was I thrilled when I found the news of his concert at Zirca & tickets would go on sale the following week. *Big Grin* Well, although the ticket wasn’t cheap, but I have to say it was worth every single cent! :)))

The day finally arrived - 10th February (just 2 days before I go off for my CNY break, phew!). I managed to grab myself a pretty good spot in Zirca that night & surprisingly, there were no barricades at all! It was definitely my first time to a concert without any barricades…so imagine how close those at the front were to Kris (I was one of them, of course!). :P Here is a picture of the setlist for that night.

The younger fans were just mad for him & I almost went deaf with the amount of shrieks & screams. And I was on the verge of losing my voice due to a very bad sore throat but I couldn’t help screaming either the moment Kris came on stage. What can I say, Kris was just awesome with his live performance!!!! And he’s so gorgeous - *swoons* No wonder the girls at the front are practically ‘molesting’ him, LOL. Here are some pictures to tell ya how close I was to Kris…. :D

He performed most of the tracks from his debut album as well as some tracks from his AI days, notably ‘Once’ & ‘Man In The Mirror’. He’s just sooooo good with the guitar & his band was awesome too!

Alas, all good things have to come to an end & after the encore performance, Kris & his band exit the stage. We all rushed out of Zirca with the hopes of seeing him again. There was a limo waiting outside & we thought Kris would exit pretty soon but we got word from other fans that the band is coming out from another exit. We dashed there right away & waited for a while as we saw the crew bringing out the instruments to a parked van. True enough, Kris & his band emerged not long after & fans just scrambled to get his autograph, me included. I count myself really, really lucky as I managed to shove the album sleeve right infront of Kris & he signed it for me - wheeee!!!! :D :D :D

Now that sums up my Kris Allen concert experience - I hope he comes back for another one soon, *fingers crossed* :)

I’ve been such a naughty gal by neglecting my poor blog with the last entry in 2009??? Bad bad me….somehow I don’t have much time to blog as I used to back in uni days. How to have the motivation to blog when life is all about work, work & more work? :P

Anyways, here’s a summary of what’s been happening so far in 2010:

1. I catched Kris Allen live in Singapore - one the best concerts I’ve been to!!! :D
2. Having a week off from work for CNY …. I miss my week long break, damn.
3. More makan, makan & makan again with my friends….. LOL :D

Guess I’ll start off with some backdated posts ….. starting with Kris Allen! :D :D :D

Bye bye 2009…. http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=565 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=565#comments Thu, 31 Dec 2009 06:05:56 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=565 It’s the last day of 2009 & here I am sitting down trying to recap how the year has been. To sum it up, 2009 has been both a good & bad year for me. But I guess it’s normal as life consists of ups and downs.

The first half of 2009 (and perhaps a few months towards the second half) has been fairly good for me.

1) I sported a new hair-do after having straight hair for the longest time. Change is good & I’ve got mixed reviews of my permed hair… but anyway, I’m going back to straight hair next year :P

2) I bagged myself a new job down south, in a new environment & industry…..

And with that, I went on a business trip to Bali during my second week - being a total newbie, it was nerve-wrecking but fun at the same time! =)

3) I got reacquainted with some of old schoolmates whom I haven’t met since we finished Form 5. It was great to have the occasional gatherings just to catch up since we’re all working down south.

4) The endless makan-makan outings with my girlfriends/friends/colleagues - be it to celebrate someone’s birthday or just a gathering.

5) I discovered a “treasure”, my favourite & must-visit place each time I’m in KL. I *heart* this “treasure” so much! Look at the goodies I’ve got recently! <3

6) I went to my first-ever fashion bazaar with my zhi mui, Angie…and finally got to meet Jezmine, the super lovely owner of Old Blossom Box store.

7) The much awaited “all gals” trip to Bangkok in October, what a blast we all had! =D

And now onto the not-so-good of 2009…

1) Changes in the office in the second half of the year has left me unhappy
2) Getting ‘chased out’ by my land lady & having to find a new place to move into
3) The passing of a relative & many talented people i.e Michael Jackson, Stephen Gately, Brittany Murphy. May you all R.I.P.
4) I turned a quarter of a century old….boo hoo! As much as I would like to be in denial but I have to admit I am indeed getting older and it scares me. There’s just so much more to think about now as I grow older & I honestly hope I am able to cope.

So therefore, I’m feeling half-hearted to usher in the New Year as the year ahead seems so ….. unpredictable & a lil’ bleak maybe. *sigh*

Having said that, I wish all of you Happy New Year & here’s to a better year ahead in 2010 (hopefully)! May God bless us all….

Bangkok = LOVE http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=541 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=541#comments Thu, 26 Nov 2009 06:55:31 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=541 *a super backdate post - this trip was in October*

The title of this post says it all. Let’s just say it was indeed a shopping trip for all of us but I am NOT the shopping champion during the entire trip. :D

Did we shop till we drop? Well, literally we did. This is our daily scenario for all 4 days: We’ll look super fresh & energetic in the morning & by the end of the day, we’ll all look super dreadful - messy hair & tired face, with an armful of shopping bags. :P

Chatuchak Market , Siam Square and Platinum Mall are major, major loves! 3 days are definitely not even enough to cover everything. Chatuchak Weekend Market is so huge you can even get lost there & Platinum Mall boasts 6 floors full of clothes, shoes and accessories that we couldn’t even finish within a day.

I’ll let the pictures do all the talking….. :)

Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport…all looking very excited.

The hostel we stayed at which only costs us RM150 for a total of 3 nights, super cheap!

We love this place - so ZEN-like with the wooden interiors.

Posing at the train station

One day, we were all craving for McD and in particular the Pork Burger which we know we can get in Bangkok. So off we went searching for McD in town. We all got so excited when we saw McD and the famous-and-almost-extinct Mr. Cheeseburger himself! So of course we had to take a picture with him, TA-DA!!!

We visited Siam Square on Day 1 but didn’t really bought alot from there. Perhaps we were all saving for Platinum & Chathuchak (and we were so right). :D

This is us chilling out at Mango Tango, a cafe at Siam Sqaure to quench our thirst & cool ourselves from the heat.

This is the famed Platinum Mall…6 floors of shopping heaven! :D

Elaine & I with our shopping loot from Platinum…(but she hid one BIG bag behind of her)

And if you think we only went shopping, you’re wrong. We did visit two touristy places: The Grand Palace & Wat Pho. The architecture of both places are really amazing!

The amazing Sleeping Buddha @ Wat Pho

This is us back to LCCT with all our bags…amazing ya? LOL

So was it fun? Yes, it was especially since I haven’t been on an overseas trip with friends for the longest time! I will definitely go back again…. :)

Have a good long weekend everyone!

Birthday Dinner Part 1 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=555 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=555#comments Fri, 20 Nov 2009 07:18:40 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=555 *yet another backdated post* =.=

I have officially turned a quater-of-a-century-old….*sigh* Feeling so old now, my gosh! Anyways, thank you to everyone who wished me either on Facebook/SMS/face-to-face - I appreciate ‘em very much. :)

Now, back to my post. My lovely colleagues (Joanne & Nell) were really sweet to treat me to dinner in conjunction with my birthday earlier this month. Joanne brought us to an Italian-American restaurant at Bugis Junction called Lenas (brought to you by Ministry of Food = MOF) and they were having a 1-for-1 promo for pizzas and pastas at that time.

Their menu was just so tempting that we felt like ordering every single item on it, haha! This is me cam-whoring with the menu. :P

We ordered an appetizer, a pasta each, and a pizza to share - sounds like a lot of food ya? Wanna know if we managed to finish everything? Read on….

The appetizer - fried mushrooms (I think)

Nell & Joanne’s seafood marinara pasta

Italian Sausage Pizza

Me & my baked pasta & the pizza

My, the food was really, really good - we like! And we were so stuffed by the time we finished our own pasta…we couldn’t finish the pizza & I had to bring the leftovers home which my lunch the next day. :P

A surprise was in store for me that day & I didn’t know about it until the waiter/waitress brought out a birthday cake with a candle & started singing the Birthday song to me! I was indeed surprised (and a lil’ embarassed) but VERY happy too!

Me & the chocolate cake….yummy!

With Nell & Joanne - Thank you so much gurls, I really appreciate it! :)

The chocolate cake was soooo good too! A huge thank you to the staff at Lenas for the sweet arrangement….I am indeed touched. By the time each of us had the cake, we were way too full for anymore desserts & I had to bring back 1/2 of the cake home. It took me a week to finish the rest by myself…I suddenly feel like a glutton, argh!?!

And here is me with Jojo’s pressie - a brand new Maybelline eye shadow, just what I needed. Thank you Jojo! *hugzzz*

3 October 2009

I’ve been so looking forward to this street market/bazaar since forever. I first got the news from the lovely Naomi of Tea & Sympathy and then more details from TIC. Right after that, October 3rd has been marked on my calendar and it’s an event that I must attend. Did I mention it was held at Zouk? :P It wouldn’t be the same without having my ‘zhi mui’ ,Angie, with me and it was our first time attending a bazaar *shy*. But I’m so glad I went coz I finally got to meet Jezmine of Old Blossom Box. I’ve been her frequent customer and she brings in fantastic goodies each week. ;)

Us with the super nice Jezmine =)

I also snagged more items from Naomi at the bazaar. I heart her creations - T&S The Label - so, so much! Here’s some of the items I got from her:

Sharp Shoulder Blazer

Purple Work Shirt with pleated collar

Scallop & Swallow Dress

*all pictures are credited to Naomi of T&S

Even the stuffs she brings back from BKK are amazing but I’m always late to grab them coz I’m not based in KL, damn! Unfortunately, I do not have a picture with Naomi at Chic POP but there will be in my upcoming post.

The bazaar featured some online blogshops, boutiques and designers from around the region - so imagine the bunch of goodies available, wheee!!!

Here are some random pictures taken at Chic POP…

Back from my much awaited break http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=530 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=530#comments Thu, 22 Oct 2009 08:18:18 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=530 Hello peeps!

I’m back!!! I know I’ve been on a hiatus for quite a long time but here are the few reasons:

1) My blog was down
2) I’ve been busy with a major project & it’s finally over! :D
3) I just came back from a much awaited holiday~ :D

Hopefully they’re acceptable. :P Just some teeny weeny updates from my side since I was away from blogging for sooo loonnggg……

1. I was working on a photography competition in collaboration with the Singapore Sun Festival 2009 since early this year and so many problems cropped up during the whole process (and towards the end). As always, things will go wrong somehow. *sigh* Don’t really wanna go into the details of what went wrong but even though the whole thing is stressing me out, I must say it was one hell of an experience for me & I’m still proud of the final outcome - which came down to the exhibition at Kinokuniya @ Takashimaya & the award ceremony at the same venue as well. It’s finally over & done with….and will be busy with other stuff at work.

2. So….since I just finished that major project of mine, I of course had to reward myself with a holiday! Sometime back in July, I was really itching to go to Bangkok. I had to convince several girlfriends to go coz it was the peak of H1N1 back then. Besides that, AirAsia was having a fantastic promotion and I just couldn’t resist. Thank goodness we managed to get it together, book our flight tickets/accomodation & off we went to Bangkok on 15th October~weeeee!!! :) Now that I’m back to work,my mind & soul is still there because we had so much fun especially shopping, LOL. I would definitely want to go back there again. Stay tuned for my trip report then.

I also have some backdated posts coming up; starting off with Chic POP Street Market @ Zouk KL…

Mussel Madness http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=506 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=506#comments Sat, 05 Sep 2009 16:33:36 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=506 August 31st 2009

To celebrate the two August babies birthday, I suggested dinner at Brussel Sprouts @ Robertson Quay. I discovered this restaurant via the STB website and have been wanting to try it out since forever! So finally the right occasion came for us to visit the restaurant.

Sin Dee & myself arrived at the venue pretty early but reservation was made for 6.30pm. We both decided to order our food & drinks first while waiting for Elaine. They were having a promo for their mussels, aptly named Mussel Madness, where 2 main size pots of mussels for $50. Hence, we ordered that and it comes with free flow of fries, yum!

The yummy mussels:

MARINIERE: Mussels with white wine, cream, butter, celery, onion, parsley

PROVENCALE: Mussels gratinated with herb de province, garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, red capsicum, rosemary, tomato

Elaine finally came a while after the food was served or else both Sin Dee & I could have gobbled down everything, LOL. Out of the two flavours, all of us agreed that the mariniere tasted better than the provencale. :P But it was still alright, just that it tasted ‘very tomato-ish’. The fries were pretty good though - its thick and hot, freshly out of the fryer. We like! =)

We ordered a lil’ ’small eat’ dish to share after that even though we were quite full.

Mushrooms on toast

This restaurant is located at Robertson Quay and it has a nice view of the S’pore river so we decided to take some photos.

The birthday gurls with their cakes! =D

Us camwhoring at the riverside….

Some nice shots from Robertson Walk

Hope you gurls enjoyed yourselves & Happy Belated Birthday dearies!

GAGA-fied! http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=505 http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=505#comments Sat, 05 Sep 2009 16:18:12 +0000 fELbYrNe http://www.felbyrne.com/?p=505 *Yet another backdated post

August 12th 2009

Only one word to describe Lady Gaga’s concert : AWESOME!!! And I’ll let the photos do most of the talking….

On 12th August @ Fort Canning Park, the temperature was soaring, emotions were high, atmosphere was electrifying….but despite waiting for an hour plus, the crowd just went ‘wild’ the moment she appeared on stage.

She sang her most of her hit songs from ‘The Fame’; from ‘Paparazzi’ to ‘Poker Face’. The last stage outfit was probably one of the most memorable, where she was dressed in her signature Bubble outfit looking nude-like. This was the moment she played the piano for a slow version of Poker Face before launching into the fast-paced version.

That marks the last performance for the night despite the crowd cheering for an ‘Encore’. She must be really, really eager to have chilli crab, LOL. XD
